Competitions

The competitions at Knowtech provide an opportunity to showcase and nurture diverse talents and interests in the fields of science and technology.

Junior Class 5-8
1 Vlog +

The contestant must create and submit an original short video on an assigned topic using their own effort. Videos made by others or taken from a website are not acceptable. The video must be recorded live at the location relevant to the topic and should include an explanation. Bites (short interviews/sound clips) can be included in the vlog.

  • Helpers: No one else should be present to assist the vlogger with the video recording.
  • Equipment: A selfie stick or a gimbal can be used.
  • Editing: No external images or other videos should be added; text can be included. Voice-overs or dubbing after the video is taken are not allowed.
  • Focus: Efforts should be made to present the topic in depth and constructively propose solutions.
  • Submission: Prepared videos must be submitted in advance, and contestants must provide the original video, device used, and application details to the program committee if requested.
  • Final Video Length (maximum): 5 Minutes.
2 Science Working Model +

This is an exhibition of working models from Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The venue is the Science Pavilion.

  • Judging: The judge panel will visit the pavilions at a scheduled time to assign marks.
  • Presentation: An explanation of the model's function and associated design must be presented to the panel.
3 The Legendary +

This competition introduces famous personalities from the fields of knowledge, science, and technology. The presentation should cover the selected person's basic information, field of work, contributions, and the awards or recognitions they have received.

Presentation Language: English (It is not a public speaking contest).

Duration: 5 minutes

Secondary Class 9-12

Senior Age 18-35

9 AI Prompting +

This is an individual competition where contestants use AI tools to generate the necessary prompts to create a report/presentation/project as decided by the Program Committee.

  • Time/Prompts: One hour is allotted, and a person can use a maximum of 5 prompts.
  • Prompt Length: Prompts should not exceed 50 words.
  • Tools: One laptop or mobile device can be used. The tool must be used logged out and pro versions are not allowed.
  • Output: The final output can be in PowerPoint, Google Slides, Word, or PDF formats. Essential changes can be made to the content received from the tools.
  • Submission: The response, chat history from the prompts, and the final product must be submitted for evaluation. The selection and diversity of prompts, along with the quality of the final product, will be considered for judging.
General Open to All
10 Ideathon +

Contestants must form teams of three members. The competition involves developing and presenting different ideas/solutions to a problem or topic given one hour before the start.

  • Tools: Phones and laptops may be used if necessary, but communication with outside individuals is not permitted.
  • Presentation: Ideas/concepts can be presented with the help of slides, visuals, sketches, prototype models, or statistics. All team members must participate in the presentation.
  • Time: 10 minutes for presentation and 5 minutes for viva (Q&A). The jury will ask questions based on the ideas presented, and the team must respond.
  • Venue: A separate venue should be arranged for the presentations to prevent other teams from picking up ideas.
Junior Class 5-8
1 Digital Painting +

The contestant must create a painting on an assigned topic using digital tools on a mobile or tablet.

  • Submission: The final product must be submitted in JPG format with the concept of the image included as a caption for judging.
2 The Legendary +

Categories

Separate competitions will be held for boys and girls under the categories of Junior, Secondary, Senior, and General.

Participants

Participants of Knowtech will primarily include expatriate Indians.

Eligibility

A screening and selection process will be conducted to determine eligibility for participation in the event.
